Social Media Manger

Job Description:

We are looking for a Social Media Manager to lead our digital storytelling and manage multiple accounts across platforms. This is an in-person role based in Seattle, ideal for someone who understands the complexities of social media strategy and has a strong working knowledge of Indigenous Critical Race Theory or issues affecting Indian Country. The position also includes supporting day-to-day operations in our boutique, including occasional weekend shifts.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Social Media Strategy & Management

    • Develop and execute cohesive social media strategies tailored to diverse platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.).

    • Manage multiple accounts, ensuring a consistent and authentic voice across all platforms.

    • Analyze engagement metrics, generate reports, and refine strategies to maximize reach and impact.

  • Content Creation

    • Craft compelling, culturally informed, and visually engaging posts (text, graphics, and video).

    • Collaborate with creatives, writers, and community members to curate and share stories, resources, and updates relevant to Indian Country.

    • Monitor trends and develop timely, relevant content that resonates with Indigenous audiences and allies.

  • Community Engagement

    • Foster meaningful online interactions by responding to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and respectful manner.

    • Cultivate relationships with Indigenous creators, influencers, and community leaders for collaborative opportunities.

  • Advocacy & Sensitivity

    • Uphold cultural protocols and sensitivities when crafting and sharing content.

    • Address topics related to Indigenous Critical Race Theory and social justice with accuracy and respect.

  • Boutique Support

    • Assist in the daily operations of our boutique and gallery space.

    • Provide customer service, help with merchandising, and support event execution as needed.

    • Be available for occasional weekend shifts, particularly during events, workshops, and high-traffic retail days.

Qualifications and Compensation:

  • Cultural Knowledge: Deep understanding of Indigenous Critical Race Theory and contemporary issues in Indian Country.

  • Social Media Expertise: Proven track record managing professional accounts and executing successful campaigns.

  • Storytelling Skills: Strong ability to create engaging, culturally respectful narratives across digital mediums.

  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with analytics tools, content scheduling platforms, and multimedia editing software.

  • Relationship Building: Skilled in community engagement and fostering partnerships with Indigenous communities and allies.

  • Creativity & Adaptability: Able to pivot strategies based on analytics, trends, and emerging needs.

  • Customer Service: Comfortable working in a boutique/gallery environment and engaging with visitors.

  • Educational Background: Preferred but not required – degrees or certifications in Indigenous Studies, Media Studies, Communications, or related fields.

Compensation

$25-35/hour. Based on experience and discussed upon interview.
