About the event
Lushootseed Creation Stories is a bold, living exhibition honoring the ancestral teachings of the Coast Salish Sea. It began as a shared dream between Amber Hayward and Matika Wilbur—an imagining rooted in love for language and a longing to gather Lushootseed relatives from throughout the region to carry Creation stories forward through art. Through the work of fifteen Coast Salish artists, the teachings of čušad sč́istxʷ (Star Husband) and dukʷibəɫ (The Changer) are held, spoken, and made visible across many forms and materials.
This is a space prepared with care—for listening, for reflection, for relation. We invite you to join us, honorable one, to step in, slow down, and engage with the stories that continue to shape this place and its people.
