Make Your Own Wool Blanket Jacket with Stacey Mitchell

Spend two full days at Tidelands learning to create your own wool blanket jacket with Akwesasne designer Stacey Mitchell, Bear Clan.

In this hands-on workshop, Stacey will guide participants through the process of transforming a wool blanket into a one-of-a-kind wearable jacket. Over two eight-hour studio days, you’ll learn construction, fitting, sewing, and finishing techniques while working alongside Stacey and a small community of makers.

This workshop is intended for participants with previous sewing experience. You should be comfortable operating a sewing machine and have a basic understanding of sewing and garment construction.

Tidelands will provide the jacket-making kit, patterns, and workshop materials. Participants are responsible for bringing their own wool blanket and sewing machine. If you don’t own a sewing machine, you’re welcome to borrow one. Tidelands also has three sewing machines available for participant use, on a first-come basis.
