The two needle stitch is a commonly used flatwork stitch. It involves stringing beads on one needle while holding tension on the thread, and tacking the beads down with a second needle.
Beadwork is a long practiced art among Indigenous cultures, with a rich history across all tribes, including the use of dentalium, wampum, bone, abalone, clay beads, and other natural materials, and later the use of glass beads introduced by trade.
Native flatwork beading adapts materials introduced by settlers into Indigenous designs and techniques, influenced by a long history of beadwork traditions all throughout Turtle Island.
Participants will be provided with materials, but are welcome…
